Save the School, Save the World

Saturday October 13, 2007
Global climate change is threatening to wreak havoc on our planet, waste is piling up at an unprecedented rate, our precious streams and rivers are becoming ever more polluted, and we are literally burning through our limited supply of fossil fuels. Luckily, the environment is moving to the forefront of more and more people's perceptions, as evidenced by Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to bring global climate change into the public eye. Luckily, all of these potential catastrophes are within our ability to manage, by simply taking some precautions to protect the environment and to teach our children to do the same. It's never to early to start thinking about the going green, as All Detergent is pointing out with its Go Green & Small with All Kids Sweepstakes.

To enter, you must be a parent of a child in pre-Kindergarten to eighth grade attending one of a list of pre-approved schools and you must fill out an eco-report card to show how your child is working to protect the environment. To increase your chances to win, you can also write a short essay and send in a picture of your child doing something green.

The winning child will receive an iPod MP3 player with a environmentally-conscious solar charger. The child's school will also receive a whopping $50,000 to be used to accomplish an environmental goal. Nine finalist schools will also receive $5,000 grants. Enter between now and November 26th for your chance to win, and to help save the world while doing so.
