Give Your Hero the Chance to Win $30,000 in Prizes

When we think of heroes, most of the time it's guys with capes and muscles of steel or cheerleaders with indestructible bodies that come to mind. Lenox, a subdivision of Irwin Tools wants to remind us, however, that heroes are all around us with their Extra Mile Heroes Writing Contest. Write an essay of 250 words or less about someone that you know personally who goes the extra mile for the people around him or her, who performs acts of service for individuals or groups, and who exemplifies everything that a power tool user or supplier should be.

A panel of judges will select ten finalists, each of whom will win an amazing prize: $3,100 cash for him or herself, $3,100 cash donated to charity in the winner's name, and a trip to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway LENOX Industrial Tools 301 Race, scheduled for June 28, 2009 in Loudon, NH.

The ten finalist entries will be thrown open to public vote. The nominee who receives the most votes will win the grand prize of $31,000 cash for him or herself, and $31,000 donated to charity. That's definitely a reward worthy of a hero!

You can submit either yourself or someone you know, but the nominee is the one who will receive the prizes. Nominations must be received by November 30, 2008, and voting will continue until April 30, 2009. To enter, you must be a U.S. or Canadian resident (void in Quebec) aged 21 or above.
