Frustrated about Not Winning? A Prize Might be On Its Way!

Monday February 11, 2008
I received a prize out of the blue this weekend, which really demonstrates what I try to tell you all when I say that you shouldn't give up too quickly. The prize itself is fun, a really nice picnic basket from Sunkist almonds, valued at about $40. What makes it worth blogging about is that the sweepstake ended back in August, and this is the first sign I've gotten that I was a winner!

The sweepstakes rules indicated that the winners would be drawn in September, and the thousand first-prize winners would be notified and receive their prize by mail. I had long given up hope that I would receive a prize, which made having this great surprise show up on my doorstep even more fun. But it definitely goes to show that winning isn't instantaneous. It took five months after the drawing for this prize to show up, and that's not even a record; I've personally received prizes more than a year after the end of a sweepstake.

So if you're feeling frustrated about not winning, remember that it's possible that one of the entries you made last month could be chosen as a winner next month, and that prizes can take far longer to arrive than you might expect. There's a very good reason why patience is one of the secrets of winning sweepstakes, so hang in there!

I just had the same thing happen. I received a gift basket from Home Solution News, and I can’t even remember which sweepstake it was!
