The Sour Sweet Gone Auction Sweepstakes is an unusual contest that gives you the chances to win prizes every week. The idea is that entrants "bid" on the prizes. The bid is entirely virtual -- win or lose, you don't have to pay any money. But your bid determines whether you will win or not.

Each week's winner is the person who enters the lowest unique bid -- that is, the lowest bid that no one else also offers. So lots of people will bid $0.01, but will anyone else bid $0.02? Or $0.22? Or $1.22?

Prizes vary from week to week, but they include a "sweet" and a "sour" portion of the prize. For example, the "sweet" portion might be a big gift certificate for clothes while the "sour" portion is something sillier, like laundry detergent. See the rules for the complete prize listing.

Entry is open to US residents aged 13 and above. You can enter a new bid each day, and winners are chosen at the end of each week. The sweepstakes ends on November 30, 2008.
