Wells Fargo's "Someday Stories" Winners Announced - And You're Invited to Celebrate!
According to Wells Fargo's Someday Stories Website, the five finalists, who each received $10,000 to start on the path to achieving their dreams, were:
- Danny from Provo, Utah who wrote about his dream to become a physical therapist,
- Erin from Prescott Valley, Arizona who yearned to open a used bookstore,
- Evelyn from Sharon, Massachusetts who had a goal of helping her 17-year-old daughter expand the magazine that she founded when she was 13,
- Mary from Rye, Colorado whose essay focused on helping her mom open a hospice home,
- and Tiffany from Reno, Nevada whose dream was to become a doctor.
The grand prize winner was Evelyn Krieger, whose daughter dreamed of creating her own magazine -- a magazine focused on issues facing Jewish girls. The magazine is on the verge of expanding, and has found a distributor -- but that also leads to higher costs for printing and marketing. Evelyn's entry was the clear winner, with 28,880 votes. The next closest competitor received 8,317 votes.
Three charities will also receive large donations from Wells Fargo based on visitor votes. Habitat for Humanity will receive $250,000, Junior Achievement will receive a donation of $150,000, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America will receive $50,000. All three charities work to make people's dreams come true.
Wells Fargo has also invited the general public to join them in the prize celebration event that they're hosting at the Wells Fargo History Museum in San Francisco on December 10, 2008. Refreshments will also be served. See the Wells Fargo Someday Stories website for details.
