Winner Announced in The Simpsons' Unleash Your Yellow Character Contest

Fox invited Simpsons fans to submit their ideas for a new Simpsons character in their Unleash Your Yellow Character Contest, which ended on October 28, 2009.

According to a Fox LA article, the grand-prize winner is Peggy Black, a 52-year-old Hospital Operations Manager and long-time Simpsons fan. Her winning character idea, chosen from among the 25,000 entries, is Ricardo Bomba, a handsome South American ladies' man nicknamed "La Bomba."

"La Bomba" will appear on the upcoming Simpsons episode, "Million Dollar Maybe," which, appropriately enough, centers around winning. In Homer's case, it's a winning lottery ticket.

Peggy's grand prize was a trip to Los Angeles to meet The Simpsons animators and to oversee the creation of her character for the television series. Peggy's guest on the trip was Dwight Vann, the colleague who encouraged Peggy to enter the contest.
