Which Internet Browser Do You Use to Enter Sweepstakes?

By May 13, 2010

Follow me on:

When you enter sweepstakes online, your internet browser can make a big impact on how easy it is to enter.
Some browsers have advantages over others. For example, Google Chrome is lightweight and loads pages faster, but Firefox gives you the flexibility to customize your browser to work the best for you (Want more information? Read my Firefox review for sweepers.)

Plus, one browser isn't always enough. Some sweepstakes work better in one browser than another. In fact, I recommend using two browsers to enter sweepstakes. Sometimes, the only way to get a problem sweepstakes to work is try a different browser. Luckily, all of the major internet browsers can be downloaded for free, so it doesn't cost more than a little bit of time and some room on your hard dive to use more than one browser.

So which internet browser do you like the most? Take my quick poll to share your preferences. Then click on the "comments" link below to tell us why you prefer the browser you use.

And if you use the Firefox browser, I'm looking for reviews of Firefox add-ons for sweepers. If you have a favorite add-on that helps you enter sweepstakes more easily, click the link above to tell us about it. Enjoy!

I’ve been sweeping for years and last week was the first and only time it required firefox(I didn’t enter).Other than that Explorer works just fine.I guess you can’t miss what you can’t measure.

You’re right, it took me a long time to switch to Firefox. I like it a lot now, but I liked Internet Explorer when I used it, too. And Internet Explorer has made some advancements in the last few years that make it even more useful than it used to be.

I like having both options on hand, I’ve often found sweepstakes that worked better in one browser or the other.

I’d like to try Google Chrome, too. When I first downloaded it, you couldn’t use Roboform or other add-ons with it, but I believe that it’s more flexible now.

I’m a Mac girl, and I use Safari and Firefox, but Firefox crashes all the time and it drives me nuts. Plus, I don’t like to use tabs. There’s my two-cents worth. Go Safari People!!

Ha, Krissy, that’s funny – tabs are my favorite part of using Firefox! Maybe all those separate windows are less annoying on a Mac than a Windows machine!

Do you have any trouble with sweepstakes not working well on Safari?

I use Firefox on my desktop and Google on my laptop. I’ve never had a problem with Firefox and just about anything is better than using Internet Explorer.

Edie, do you find it’s harder to enter sweepstakes with Chrome than Firefox? I’m thinking about trying it myself.

I use IE8 for sweeps. For normal everyday browsing I use Opera with javascript off and other plugins, such as flash, not loaded.

That’s a great tip, Suntasticgah. It lets you keep your regular browsing fast and lean, while still being able to access all of the features of the sweepstakes’ sites.

Safari has a great autofill system. Completing forms is quick and relatively painless.

Sandra I’m very surprised IE is way ahead of Firefox.
I don’t think I could ever go back to IE.

I agree with you, Kitty! I was reluctant to try Firefox, but once I did, I never wanted to go back. It’s great to have both browsers installed, though, for those problem sweeps.

Nobody mentioned Crazy Browser, so I’m happy to be the 1st. Hubby turned me on to Crazy many years ago because it was easier for me than IE, & it was before FireFox. Then, when he discovered FireFox, he also shared it w/me. FF had the dreaded tabs that made my life so easy; last year, it asked me to update & I lost everything when it had reloaded. Discouraged + disgusted at not being able to retrieve 1 iota, I returned to my 1st love ~ Crazy. Now, I never think about missing FF. Until now…
