If you've been anxiously awaiting the news of who won HGTV's 2012 Green Home Sweepstakes, which ended on June 1st, the wait is over. Even though the Green Home Giveaway Special won't take place until August 17th, HGTV has announced the winner's name.
According to a post on the HGTV Sweepstakes Blog, the winner of this year's prize of an environmentally-friendly home in Georgia is Mary Jones from Katy, Texas, a small town outside of Houston. Mary Jones was a substitute teacher until she retired.
The amazing prize that Mary Jones won includes an environmentally-friendly home in Serenbe, Georgia, $100,000 cash, and a 2012 GMC Terrain automobile, a prize worth $788,535, or $500,000 cash plus the GMC vehicle.
