New Sweepstakes Show, "Sweepstakers", to Air on OWN Tonight

By January 2, 2013

Follow me on:

The Oprah Network, OWN, is airing a new television show about the sweepstakes hobby tonight called Sweepstakers (or, as their font has it, $weepstaker$). According to the preview on Oprah.com, the show will "three female sweepers who spend countless hours trying to win incredible prizes like cars, trips and cash."

Are you planning on watching? I'm hoping it will be good, fair coverage, and not another show talking about sweepstakes addicts. The preview is unclear. It talks about one woman sending hundreds of thousands of entries to radio sweepstakes until they had to stop holding them, which makes me worry. On the other hand, it does also seem to show the excitement of entering and how much fun the sweepstakes hobby can be.

I'd love to know what you think about the preview. Click the "comments" link below to share your thoughts.

The show is airing on January 2nd at 10/9c on OWN. If you watch it, I'd love to hear what you think!

This could go either way. Make us look like maniacs, bring more sweepers into the fold or just be an entertaining show. I pray for the latter.

I am going to watch, I do hope that they do a good job and not portray us sweepers in a bad light. Since becoming disabled I enjoy sweeping and the great people I have met while doing so.

Since this is a reality show, you know they are going to try to amp up the drama. Although, I find my sweepstakes to be the most drama-free aspect of my life, lo. I did not watch that other show about sweepstakes, so I may watch this one just to see how sweepers are portrayed.

The show was entertaining like all reality however nothing great and scenarios were obviously staged.

So disappointing. It had nothing to do with daily sweepstaking just bickering over prizes. Agree with comments saying it was very staged.

It was very fake, but hey it’s reality. It’s just a show and like all shows fake.

This was a reality show and they decided to go in a more dramatic direction instead of being informative.

I noticed earlier today that it was going to be on. I didn’t know it was the premier airing. I recorded it and watched it later. It was much like the other reality shows I watch, but since I am new to Sweepstaking, only a couple of months doing it now, I was amazed to hear how much time they put into it and how often and how much they win. That was kind of a validation for doing it. I also heard about RoboForm on the show and am looking into the RoboForm Everywhere for a year’s subscription at $9.95 or .99, I’ve forgotten already.

It gave me the sweeping bug… but I found the Long Island couple so annoying and felt bad for the young CA girl – her parents looked like a$$es, although I understood their point about getting an education. I am so glad she won a car! I like the Orlando lady – she seemed classy.

I watched the show and found it very entertaining. It reflected some of their personal lives and how the prizes affect them. Hope the show continues.

I enjoyed it, although I knew certain things were staged. I love the woman from Florida that won the Fast 5 car, she has so many wins its crazy. Seeing all the winnings lit a fire under me and I have been hardcore sweeping even more sweeps than ever. I hope it pays off.

(14) Lori in PA says:

Just a clarification, I’m not the same “Lori” as posted above. Unfortunately, I don’t get the Oprah Winfrey Network in Pennsylvania, so I didn’t see the show. I do know Jessica- the woman obviously referenced in the other posting- by someone named “Lori” -but it is not Lori in Pennsylvania- just a clarification. There must ba another Lori!
(sorry- I’m getting phone calls about it!)

(15) Tracy D says:

Was definitely an interesting show because no one ever talks or hears about the people who actually win these types of prizes.
The 2 older women on the show were so annoying to watch, although I did feel bad for Mariah and her situation with her parents
I disliked how staged everything was, I definitely must be repeating everything everyone above is saying. Very disappointing show.

thank god the show didn’t get picked up, it was all staged, the girl never went on the trip with the girls, poorly written show and for no pay. And who cares whether or not it was the same Lori in PA or not? NObody cares
