August 2013 Sweepstakes Winners Speak Up!

By September 2, 2013

Follow me on:

It's that time of the month again, everyone, where we get to brag about the prizes that we won in the month before. If you received a prize or a win notification last month, click the "comments" link below to tell us all about your successes.

Some people have said before that they feel like they're bragging when they share their good news. No, no, no! I love to hear about all of those prizes that all of you won, the big ones and the small ones. It's fun to share, and it's fun to read about them. Plus, lots of people think that no one really wins sweepstakes. Sharing your news helps dispel that myth. I can't wait to hear your winning stories!

I won 2 $50 Visa gift cards. I just returned yesterday from a 2 night trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario. And a Weber grill showed up on my front door last week. I have zero idea of what contest that was from. Husband and I also get treated to a 2 day resort stay with a couple massage at a resort in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. All in all, not a bad month.

A bag of Mrs. Cubbison’s crutons from Challenge Butter. I’ve spun that wheel 1000 times to get that!

Heinekin travel prize pack

Martha Stewart Message Board from BIC.

A really nice travel cup from International Delite. I knew I’d won a prize but not what until that arrived.

15% off coupon from LIDS, but that’s not a prize, that’s a come-on to spend $$ at their place!!

Also got a box of 6 Brew Over Ice Kcups. Not sure if that was a prize from that sweep or just a sample because I’d already won a tumbler.

$20 gift card to Melting Pot. If you’ve got one in your area and never been, GO! You sit at the table and cook your food fondue style. So much fun, but expensive. November birthday here we come.

(5) David says:

As usual for me, not much, won a coupon for a 4 lb.bag of Purina dog food. This is getting old to win so little and entering weil over 100 contests daily and spending about 3.5 hrs a day at it. I have wondered with so many contests out there with grand prizes of 2.5k, 5k,10k,25k, and up and cars, trucks, etc, why we don’t see virtually every month someone mention winning something like that? There are scores of these type contests going on all the time. Where are the winners? Hopefully winning something sizeable is why I keep at it. Do people that win the really, really good prizes kept quiet about posting it here. Seen a few trips, etc. but largely stuff that may be worth less than $20-$25.

(8) John Richard Petersen says:

We won two FACEBOOK photo contests this year. One was for the restaurant chain MIMI’S. I just so happened to have had a photo of my partner with his mom…it is in one of those MOTHERS frames. I scanned both the photo and the frame and we won a gift card to the restaurant.

We also won a meet and great with Adam Lambert after posting a photo on the AT&T LIVE PROUD contest. There were ten winners. We got a FABULOUS dinner in West Hollywood driven there by a party bus from our hotel, the new W HOTEL in Hollywood. A one night stay there where they have scattered 2.5 ounce bottles of water that say DRINK ME…for $5 a pop. We could have scarfed down on the goodies and the treats as they did not require a credit card from us for check in. When we checked out there was a $300 credit on the bill. Had we known..we would have gorged ourselves on candy, nuts, alcohol and soft drinks! We got to walk the Orange Carpet – the color of AT&T (where each winner was presented like a celebrity in front of the press – we literally had to do the step, turn, pose, step, turn, pose, repeat. On camera interviews…quite the glamours walk.) We were then whisked to Adam’s dressing room where we did a group photo and individual photos before going to his PRIVATE CONCERT He did ten songs then AT&T provided a check to THE TREVOR PROJECT for $50,000. Now, of the ten winners some were flown in from Chicago, Denver, Seattle, Sacramento…we drove up from Riverside, California and for that (in lieu of airfare) we received $350 in VISA GIFT CARDS in our goody bag that included autographed photos, autographed CDs and various other AT&T goodies. TO TOP IT OFF….we were asked for our SS# for 1099 forms…but they informed us THEY WERE GOING TO PAY THE TAXES AND IT WOULD SHOW THAT ON THE 1099! WOW! It has truly inspired me to keep entering contests and sweeps online.

(14) Lisa says:

In August I won 2X medium fries, a breakfast sandwich, and 40 mycoke rewards points from McDonald’s Monopoly, Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss from Teen Vogue, and a T-shirt from 98 Rock/Yuengling beer/Harley-Davidson (husband also got a T-shirt). My son won a book and a ticket to the Children’s museum from the Library’s summer reading program. Even though I didn’t win the motorcycle, I had a chance to try a key in a lockbox which contained the key to the motorcycle; my husband and I were in the last group of 10-15 finalists to try our keys. We were thisclose! :)

I have only sweeping since April and I’m winning every month. I spend a maximum of about 1 hour per day doing online, instant win, and sometimes snail mail sweeps. At any one time, I am entering about 30 sweeps. For those who are not winning, I would suggest focusing on Sweepstakes with “lots of prizes” (see Sandra Grauschopf’s link). This will increase your odds. “Sweepstakes Daily” and “Online-Sweepstakes.com” are also good resources.

Congratulations on your wins, Lisa! I agree with you, I love those little wins, they help to keep me motivated, and some of them are super useful!

September 3, 2013 at 10:20 am
(16) David says:

Lisa, I am glad you are happy to be winning and winning so many very minor prizes. Each of our goals may be different and mine is to win hopefully prizes of at least $1000 and up so I guess I don’t necessarily look for contests with a lot of small prizes. I spend about 3 or more hours a day and enter about 125 contests or more. I go on the shotgun theory to blast away at as many as possible with higher value prizes and hopefully occasionally win some of those. Won one of those for $2012 this year and maybe 5-6 of the trivial prizes that just happened to be part of the contests.
