Won nothing In January but sure hope I win some from the many that ended in January. I am tracking 59 contests ending in January with an average grand prize of $38,000. After removing those from the active section of my spreadsheet, down to 37 contests to enter daily. Sandra, wonder what is going on in the sweepstakes world as never recall so few new contests appearing in the last 2 or so years of actively doing this. I usually have been able to maintain an average of 100 or more active contests to do daily entries.

(5) Sherry Thompson says:

I’ve moved from Florida back to Arizona, will PCH be able to find me? Because I’m having hard time finding site that let’s me change my address. Also, when I try, it tells me I’m using the wrong password….no I’m not. So makes me wonder if all this is legit. And to top it off I am older, and newbie on computer so having hard time. I do however, do a search everyday to make sure I’m entered. And lastly…..ya’ll can’t give away a million for life to someone every month…..so when Jan was over I figured…..well, I didn’t win, but now it says its for Feb. Which is it? Once I send this I won’t be able to go back and see if someone has answered …..next I will reply to PCH e-mail, which I receive daily anyhow. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US………..

Ann, just come back and saw your question. The 39k average is high as when I have 100 or more for daily entries, the average is usually closer to 20k. The mix of those ending on 1/31/14 had more than usual with grand prizes in the 25 to 100k range. IE food network of 50k, HGTV of 25k and 100k, DIY of 25k, and a bunch of Meredith Corp( magazine) in the 10 to 100k range. Besides Sandra’s website, I use 3 others. I bare down on the larger contests mostly of a minimum of $1,000 and up. If I happen to win some small secondary prizes, that is just some gravy but not really what I am after. Today(2/16) my list of 48 averages 17k.. Use key word of sweepstakes and search out the other websites.

I began entering into sweepstakes earlier this month. For those newbies like me who want to break the ice as motivation to keep going, Goodreads has book giveaways for members (free membership). The first day I started voting for ‘giveaway’ books, which was yesterday, I won a book! I’m sorry if this breaks any rules in posting, I am in no way affiliated with Goodreads, just a person excited to have her first sweepstakes type win. Hope this helps at least one person!

I love Goodreads, too, Ashley! I’ve won some great books that I probably wouldn’t have read otherwise through them.

I have been sweeping for sweepstakes 7 years or more and i have not ever won a thing PCH, magazine sweeps, hgtv, and lots more, but i never win.I would love to know what is wrong so i could correct it.Thanks

(15) LaTonya Atkinson says:

David I have not seen any downside on the sweeps. I am still currently entering about 2 to 300 sweeps a day but mine vary from electronics to trip and money so maybe the fact that you are only concentrating on the ones that are only $1000 or higher may be the reason we differ. Dorothy I hope something good comes your way soon I don’t think that I would still be entering sweepstakes if I had not won anything in 7 years.

(18) David says:

If your area is like mine, there may be a couple auto dealers that send out mailers with a number to take and check at the dealer and a new car is usually the grand prize. They have always had a $10 gift card as the minimum price for like 99,995 of the numbers they send out so been assured of at least getting that. While I have never won more that the $10 gift card, I always drop by, tell them I am not in to buy a new car, and have them check the number. Hope someone on here wins the HGTV Lake Tahoe home contest in early March. The 1.3 million cash option plus SUV would hit the spot even though Uncle Sams take on taxes is close to 500k( he needs the money too!)

I believe consistency and persistence are the keys to winning. I win my share of Instant Wins, and my little tip of the day for IWs is to try to enter a given IW sweep around the same time daily, and let the computer clock catch up to you.

I love this newsletter — I have been doing contests on and off for about 15 years, and have won many prizes. I won a trip to Paradise Island from JetBlue (can’t remember if I found out about it from this newsletter), but most of my winnings were from local TV/radio stations. I won a trips to Disneyworld, Jamaica, a cruise to Bermuda, $1,000 cash, and many smaller prizes. These were all website contests (you don’t have to listen and call to win). I am pretty selective about what I enter (I always check the rules for the sponsor – has to be a legit business I am familiar with – and I check for the retail value of the prize – I won’t enter if I think winning the prize isn’t worth paying the taxes). Although all my friends think I am obsessed and spend hours a day entering contest, with a little organization most days I spend about 15 minutes entering contests – I feel that you can spend as much or as little time as fits your schedule, and still be successful!

The odds of winning the big prize on PCH is 505,000,00 to one. You would have to enter every day for a million years to even the odds. HGTV dream house had 77 million entries last year. The bigger the prize usually means more people will enter and the odds will increase. Cars with cars, trips and smaller amounts of money have much better odds. Still haven’t won yet except for a third prize which was a t-

I have been sweeping for over 30 yrs. I have won trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, big screen TV, $10,000, microwave ovens, lots of clothes and all kinds of small items from ,i Pods to VCRs, DVD players there has been so much small stuff I have forgot most. No cars or homes yet.
I enter every day even if I just do two or three most days I enter between 20 to 30 sweepstakes. I have quite a couple of times but I always go back nothing like getting free things.

Never pay money to enter or receive prizes.

Good Luck

(32) jean says:

Just wondering if anyone else uses the method of not capitalizing name, address, town, etc when entering. Seems to save me a bunch of time. I don’t want to use the robo-fill so many folks suggest using; seems like some sweeps disqualify if you use those. So if I don’t capitalize am I screwing up my chances.

Also just have to say, for someone who has been sweeping for 7 years and still haven’t won….. you are stronger than I am. I’ve been at it for 6 months and already feel discouraged.

April 19, 2014 at 4:04 am
(33) latoya says:

@Jean Not capitalizing shouldnt hurt you in any way, as long as your information is correct. I use roboform b/c it makes things so much faster and I’ve won a bunch of stuff. When roboform won’t work, I usually don’t bother capitalizing b/c it saves me a few precious seconds.

Good luck!!

(34) Jan says:

Although I don’t find time to enter daily, I usually try to check at least 3-4 times a week on my contests. I have been playing on and off for a number of years, and have had pretty good luck. Although I did win a trip to St. Lucia from JetBlue, most of my wins were from local TV and radio stations. I bookmark the pages and check each week to see if they’ve added contests. I have won a trip to DisneyWorld, a trip to Jamaica, a cruise to Bermuda, as well as $1,000 cash and a number of smaller prizes. As you can tell, I like entering travel contests, although I’m also hoping for PCH or the HGTV dream house.
I check this site as well as a few other contest sites, but so many times I will hear mention of a contest during a commerical on TV or radio, and I try to write it down for later – you’d be surprised how often they are mentioned.
