Five recipes from each category will be selected to be semi-finalists on the basis of likely taste, originality, creativity, ease of preparation and appearance. The recipes will then be prepared and judged on the basis of taste (1-55 points), originality (1 - 45 points), creativity (1 - 40 points), appearance (1 - 30 points), and ease of preparation (1 - 30 points). The essays will be judged on the basis of relevance to theme (1 - 30 points), creative expression (1 - 20 points), and clarity (1 - 10 points), and the results from the recipe and the essay will be combined to choose one finalist from each category.
The finalist recipes will be put up for public vote, and the grand-prize winner will be the recipe with the highest combined score from the vote and judges' scores.
