How to Stop Companies' Posts from Appearing On Your Facebook Wall

Tips for Entering Facebook Sweepstakes: Keeping Your Wall Tidy

By

If you enter a lot of Facebook sweepstakes, chances are that over time, your Facebook wall will become clogged with posts from the sponsors of the sweepstakes. Luckily, it's easy to restrict which posts show up on your wall. Here are two easy ways to prevent sweepstakes' sponsors' posts from appearing on your Facebook wall.

Unlike the Company to Prevent Their Posts from Appearing on Your Facebook Wall

If you are not interested in a sweepstakes' sponsor's posts, you can "unlike" their page and their posts will no longer appear on your wall. There are two easy ways to unlike a page on Facebook:
  • Visit the company's Facebook page and click on the "Unlike" link on the left-hand navigation bar.
  • Hold your mouse over the right-hand side of the post from the company you want to remove. An X button will appear. Click on it, and then click on the option to "Unlike Page."
Be sure to wait until the sweepstakes you entered has ended before you unlike a page, however. Some Facebook sweepstakes require that you like the company's page to be eligible to win.

Hide the Company's Posts on Your Facebook Wall

If you don't want to unlike the page or risk disqualifying yourself from winning, you can simply hide the posts on your Facebook wall so that you and your friends won't have to see them. To hide posts:
  • Hold your mouse over the right-hand side of the post from the company you want to remove. An X button will appear. Click on it, and then click on the option to "Hide All by [Company]."

Why You Might Not Want to Remove Sweepstakes Sponsors from Your Facebook Wall

If you're genuinely not interested in a sponsor's posts, or if you're just feeling overwhelmed by all the messages, feel free to use one of the methods above to prevent the posts from appearing on your Facebook wall. But remember that these updates can include news about new sweepstakes to enter, discounts, coupons, and other interesting tidbits, which you'll miss out on if you remove the posts.
