About Contests Prize Photo Submission Guidelines

Image Format Guidelines

Please save your image in .jpg format. If possible, use an image management program to adjust the size to no larger than 500 pixels on each side. I prefer images that include the winner in them.

Photo File Size Guidelines

Each image should be no larger than 35 KB when you save it. The smaller the image file size, the quicker the page will load, which is a real help for people with slower internet connections.

Email Your Photo

To send me your photo, email me with the photo as an attachment. Use the subject line "Prize Photo Submission." Be sure you attach the image before you send the email. Adding the image first can prevent you from forgetting the attachment.

Required Information: Permission to Use Your Photo

The text of the email MUST contain the following photo release; otherwise, I cannot use your image:

I certify that I am the author or sole owner of the material I am submitting to About.com. About.com and its licensees may reproduce, distribute, publish, display, edit, modify, create derivative works and otherwise use the material for any purpose in any form and on any media. I agree to indemnify About.com for all damages and expenses that may be incurred in connection with the material.

Please don't email me any photos if you do not own the copyright, and if you do not agree to let me use the photo on the About Contests site.

Required Information: How to Credit Your Picture

In the body of your email, please include the following information as well:

• Your real name.
• How you'd like to be credited on the About Contests site (i.e., First and Last Name, First Name and Last Initial, Initials Only, etc.)
• A brief description of the prize.
• The name of the sweepstake that you won (optional)
• The name of the sponsor of the sweepstake that you won (optional)
• The ARV of the prize (optional)
• The story of your win (optional)

Additional Images

You can send as many pictures as you like, but I'm unlikely to use more than one or two pictures per person. Please send a separate email for each prize picture that you send.

I May Not Use All Pictures I Receive

While I'd love to display all of your wins, I may not be able to use every picture that I receive. Before sending, please make sure your pictures are clear and in focus. I won't be able to use pictures that are blurry, dark, washed out, or otherwise difficult to see.
