The 2011 HGTV Dream Home was set in the mountains of Stowe, Vermont. It was designed to capture the rustic elegance of the Adirondack Great Camps.

This photo tour walks you through the main rooms of the 2011 Dream Home, so you can see the design features for yourself.

In the image above, you can see the exterior of the Stowe, Vermont Dream Home. This photo shows the rustic ski-lodge style home in its lovely mountain setting.

The 2011 HGTV Dream Home took its design inspiration from its gorgeous mountain setting. This two-level home has room for a group of guests in its lower level, with a guest bedroom, a dorm-style bedroom for eight kids or young adults, a separate bathroom, and a gathering room and kitchenette.

The upper floor is designed as a comfortable retreat for the homeowners. There's a master bedroom with its own bath and private balcony, a central kitchen and dining area, perfect for entertaining, and floor-to-ceiling windows to showcase the stunning mountain views.

The 2011 Dream Home winner was Eric Makstenieks of Hinsdale, Illinois.

To better enjoy the mountain views surrounding the HGTV Dream Home 2011, the home features a gorgeous terrace.

The ground-level terrace of the Vermont Dream Home stretches along the entire back of the home. It's built onto a slope to give you an amazing vantage point.

The terrace was designed to serve as an outdoor kitchen or to let the owner just enjoy lounging outside with a good book.

Features include a marble-topped dining table, a grilling station with counters for food prep, a fire pit, and an amazing hot tub, which let the owner enjoy their terrace year-round. A staircase leads up to a wooden deck on the second floor.

The 2011 HGTV Dream Home offered a cozy guest bedroom on its ground floor.

All of HGTV's Dream Homes are built for entertaining, but the 2011 Dream Home really stood out. This cozy guest bedroom on the ground floor, with views looking out over the terrace and to the mountains beyond, is a good example.

The guest bedroom was designed to have the feel of a five-star luxury hotel. There was an en-suite bathroom, a private sitting area, a flat-screen TV, and a luxurious bed. The color palette was designed to be a soothing reflection of the natural terrain around the Dream Home.

Have you ever had a big sleepover and wondered where to put all the guests? Well, the HGTV Dream Home 2011 solved that problem with a cozy dorm-style bedroom that slept eight people.

The ski dorm in the Dream Home accommodated a large number of people in a cozy space. Not only did eight bunk-beds provide a comfortable place to sleep, but there was also flexible seating, plenty of storage space, and durable bedding that the owner could easily maintain between visits.

If you have eight people sleeping over in the ski dorm, you need to have a bathroom with plenty of space. The en-suite bathroom was perfectly designed to manage the morning rush.

There's plenty of storage space for towels and bath accessories, three sinks, three shower stalls, and two private bathroom stalls. It was a place where all the kids could get ready without tripping over one another.

Not only did the ground floor of the HGTV Dream Home 2011 have room for the winner's guests to sleep, but it also provided a place to mingle and relax in the living area. This rustic living room included a home theater and seating for the winner's guests to watch movies or chat.

The Stowe Dream Home's living area also had its own kitchenette where guests could make breakfasts or lunches. The kitchenette could also serve as a staging area for outdoor parties on the terrace.

The large table in the center of the living area is actually sectional, meaning that guests can use it to play board games or pull sections over to the sofa for easy laptop dining.

Skiing, hiking, sledding, and ice skating are all popular activities in Stowe, Vermont... and they all require lots of outdoor gear. So the 2011 Dream Home included a mudroom for easy storage.

If you're coming home from a long day of sporting activities, this mudroom is the perfect place to stow gear and get cleaned up.

You could enter the home directly through the mudroom. It included lots of storage space and a sink and vanity for freshening up.

The designers installed durable flooring that wouldn't be damaged if the owners tracked in mud or snow.

The gathering room of the HGTV Dream Home was designed to be an informal and comfortable meeting place for the whole family. Overstuffed couches, an indoor gas fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows with amazing views made this a cozy place to spend time together.

The furnishings were designed with durability in mind, so the winner wouldn't have to feel like they needed to treat their home like a showcase.

The 2011 Dream Home has an open floor plan, so the gathering area is easily accessible from the dining room, the glassed-in annex, and the kitchen.

The 2011 HGTV Dream Home has a truly gorgeous natural setting, and this glassed-in annex was designed to help the winner enjoy it to its fullest.

Totally surrounded by glass on three sides and the ceiling, they could observe the beauty of each of the four seasons from the comfortable seating in the annex.

The HGTV Dream Home 2011's dining room was designed to be an informal dining area that capitalized on the stunning mountain views surrounding the house.

A beautiful maple table and comfortable leather chairs were placed in front of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the wooden deck and the mountains beyond.

Lighting was provided by clear crystal pendants, which didn't interfere with the views from the nearby kitchen.

Have you ever had a party where people tended to congregate in the kitchen? It seems to happen every time. But luckily, the HGTV Dream Home 2011 has anticipated this by placing an oversized kitchen right in the heart of the home.

The kitchen of the 2011 Dream Home featured all the appliances that a gourmand or a fervent entertainer would crave, including two sinks, refrigerated drawers, warming drawers for holding prepared dishes, a Wolf gas range and hood, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, and much more.

Best of all, the Dream Home's kitchen offered uninterrupted views of the deck and the mountains beyond, providing a lovely atmosphere for cooking and entertaining.

The master bedroom of the 2011 HGTV Dream Home is a lovely, private suite where the winner could relax and enjoy the beauty of the home's natural surroundings. The suite includes the bedroom itself, a lovely master bathroom, and a private balcony.

One whole wall of the master bedroom was taken up by a floor-to-ceiling window that faced directly out over Mount Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak.

There was also a seating area, and you can also see the Doggy Dream Home by the window.

The color palette of the room combined masculine and feminine touches with a bright red wall and furnishings covered with fabrics inspired by menswear.

The master bathroom of the 2011 HGTV Dream Home was designed with a neutral color palette in order to make the gorgeous views pop. The room was designed with all the amenities of a luxurious spa.

The winner could choose between a high-tech thermostatic shower that provides the perfect temperature every time, or a long soak in an antique bathtub in front of a floor-to-ceiling window with mountain views.

While the master bathroom was separated from the master bedroom only by a curtain, the bathroom stall has its own door, so the winner had the best of an open layout and enough privacy for comfort.

There was also a spacious vanity with two sinks, making it easy for a couple to get ready at the same time. An energy-efficient tankless water heater made the Dream Home 2011 more Earth-friendly.

The winner of the $2 million HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes 2011 prize package received not only the gorgeous house itself, but also several extra features including $500,000 cash and a 2011 GMC Acadia Denali, pictured here.

The 2011 GMC Acadia Denali is a crossover SUV which can handle the snowy mountain roads of the Dream Home's location. The Denali is loaded with safety features and has impressive fuel efficiency for its class.

Of course, the Denali was well taken care of in the Dream Home thanks to a car barn, which was attached to the home.
