2012 HGTV Dream Home

My Review

I think the house looks great, some design aspects are a little odd (changing room???) but the lot is a bit remote and the CCR's are apparently very restrictive (it's Utah, so I guess its normal there). The only gripe I have is that according to reports I have read no-one, repeat no-one, has ever lived in the HGTV house that they won. This is due to the high cost of the prize (don't forget it includes the furniture) and the tax they have to pay. So it's a strange sweepstakes when in fact you win a house and then spend the next 2 years worrying about selling it and dealing with tax liabilities in a number of states. Give me the cash, I'll buy my own house thanks.

2012 Dream Home vs. Past Years' Prizes

I think its better, but location is not for everyone - Utah would never be somewhere I would consider living.

Will You/Did You Enter the 2012 Dream Home Sweepstakes?

No

If you won, which option would you choose?

I'd take the cash option.

Would you recommend this to a friend?

Yes

Actually, 2005 Dream Home winner Don Cruz lived in his Dream Home for several years before selling, and it was such a good experience, he's still entering to win. Read more here: Interview with 2005 Dream Home Winner Don Cruz.
