2012 HGTV Dream Home
My Review
I think this is the best HGTV Dream Home to date period. It is beautiful in and of itself but the location is also fairly close to all the standard city amenities. It is set up to be a wonderful home for any family and/or rent out parts of it and still have your privacy. You are close to high class ski/winter resorts yet not on top of them. It has the potential to easily make enough money to keep it up and pay the expenses even if you don't live there! When you retire you can still have an ongoing source of income. The location has some downfalls in some peoples eye's but I know what potential that place has. I don't like entering any "sweepstakes" when I really wouldn't benefit from it or the taxes would offset the gain but this one is a winner with minimum effort...And it will be built to the highest standards!!!
2012 Dream Home vs. Past Years' Prizes
I have loved many of them but couldn't imagine living in those areas. They seemed to be for people that already had enough money to deal with a property of those scales. They were not worth entering for me.
What Do You Think of the Setting?
Perfect location overall, however right now everyone is commenting that it is just one home built in what is/was supposed to be a tract of homes only this one is the only there. I see the possibilities and I love the area.
What Do You Think of the Design?
Overall I think that they tried to combine too many elements, however I see that as its greatest assets. Who would not make changes but this time they did a really good job of presenting the winner with many, many options and no one seems to be seeing those.
What Do You Think of the Extra Prizes?
Haven't had time to look. The SUV is great and almost necessary in this case. I have been watching the building in fascination and I only have so much time.
