What Did You Win in December, 2009?

By January 1, 2010

Follow me on:

Now that we've crossed into 2010, it's time to do our final winners' roundup for 2009 by sharing the prizes we've won in December.

For me, December was incredibly busy, and I barely entered any sweepstakes at all. But I did receive some nice prizes in the mail, including my $900-plus-dollar gift card for a Richard Petty Driving Experience, a Blockbuster gift card, and more.

How about you? What did you win last December? Click the "Comments" link below to tell me about your prize wins, large or small. I love to hear about what all of you have won!

Happy New Year! Nice win on the Driving Experience Sandra. December was another good month. Nothing big but I won another $20 from Honey Nut Cheerios, $25 in Home Depot gift cards, a $5 gift card from Wendy’s, a Fragrance Collection candle from Glade, & free Head & Shoulders. Happy sweeping -

(3) Ken B says:

Slow month for me. I won a new testament audio bible, mouse pad from red simple mag, pair of lee’s jeans, and the best one was the JVC holiday sweep where you uploaded a holiday picture and they would post it on their billboard in times square. So for 15 seconds of fame, my grandson’s picture was plastered on their screen. I guess that you could say that the ARV of that one is priceless. I have been entering a lot of sweeps from facebook but have yet to figure out how that twitter stuff works, all the tweets and retweets. I will give that one some time and see how it goes.

(4) Sandra Grauschopf, Guide to Contests says:

Ken, those sound like some fantastic prizes to me, especially having your grandson in Times Square! Be sure to ask if you have any specific questions about how Twitter contests work. Have you already seen my article about How to Enter and Win Twitter Contests?

(5) scitrus says:

December was acceptable considering I only did a fraction of the usual line-up for the last half of the month.

I got $15 in Home Depot cards from Wendy’s, $15 Amazon from StarPulse, some John Frieda hair stuff from Allure magazine from an August(!) contest, a soccer ball from Axe, the little head&shoulders from Real Simple, $10 from Paypal, 3 more lemons for $10 Amazon from PCH and a still-undetermined prize from Wonka in their second chance drawing.

Best of luck to us in the New Year! Oh, and we should have a “What was your Favorite Win/Prize of 2009″ thread, Sandra! :D

That’s a wonderful idea for a post, Scitrus! Congratulations on your December wins, and I hope the New Year brings you many more!

(7) Amy says:

I just started “sweeping” around the beginning of December so most of the sweepstakes I’ve entered haven’t even had their drawings yet. I really hope that I am as lucky as all of you have been! So this stuff can really work, eh?

January 1, 2010 at 1:43 pm
(8) Jeff says:

Welcome Amy! Yes, it really works. I’ve been doing this for years & have won everything from bag clips up through several trips. Since you’re posting on this site you’ve already discovered a great place to find sweeps to enter. Enjoy!

(9) Jane Cubelli says:

December was pretty slow for me. Won $15 from Honey Nut Cheerios, an “Ella” tote from Tory Burch (really nice looking, too). Won a CSI syringe pen from CSI Deadly Intent game and a $10 Starbucks card from the hourly contest whose name escapes me.

January 2, 2010 at 11:40 pm
(10) Sandra Grauschopf, Guide to Contests says:

Congratulations on some great wins, Jane, especially that tote, which sounds beautiful!

(11) Robbie says:

December was an excellent month for me. I got a box of auto wipes that I now leave in the car when I check the oil. If I had bought this, I figure it would have cost me about $15. But the big prize was from the “It Pays To Eat Pasta” contest that ended at the end of November. I had been entering the contest everyday, with no expectation of winning. And I thought the prize would be $100 gift coupons to eat pasta for a year. But I got a check for $5,200, enough and in time to go out and do some Christmas shopping. Since I am currently unemployed, this was a great gift, and at the right time! Thanks for all your tips and help. I read your comments on this blog all the time.

January 2, 2010 at 11:44 pm
(12) Sandra Grauschopf, Guide to Contests says:

Wow, Robbie, that was an amazing prize from the It Pays to Eat Pasta sweep! A huge congratulations. I love to hear about prizes that really make a difference like that.

And come to think of it, I received those auto wipes as well. So December wasn’t totally dry for me!

(13) margaret says:

My first place prize from BP’s Younger for Longer Challenge arrived this month – $2100 worth of gas cards for BP gas! This was my only win for November and December (so far) but I am thrilled! With my husband and I both commuting to jobs, this will save us tons of money! Plus this win gave me the chance to give some of the gas cards to family who could really use this gift as well! Thanks for this great site to find these contests!

January 2, 2010 at 11:51 pm
(14) Sandra Grauschopf, Guide to Contests says:

Wow, Margaret, your BP gas win sounds amazing! Congratulations on winning something that will help you, your husband, and other members of your family as well!

Woohoo, very cool, Amy, for winning at least a small prize so quickly :)

January 1, 2010 at 2:51 pm
(19) Audra says:

Hi! I just started sweeping as well. I did win a Blue Moon Fleece Throw this month! yay! That was my only win. I do have a question though. How many sweeps do you usually enter per day? I range from about 25-35 per day. Is that enough? or is that a small number compared to the usual sweeper?
Thanks!

January 3, 2010 at 10:00 am
(20) Sandra Grauschopf, Guide to Contests says:

Congratulations on your first win, Audra, that sounds like a beautiful throw! I usually aim for about 50 sweepstakes every day, but the most important thing is that you are doing an amount that feels like fun. If you are pouring too much time into sweepstakes, you’ll get frustrated more easily and be more tempted to give up.

Winning is a marathon, not a sprint, so if you can do a few more today and still feel good doing it, go for it. If it makes you feel stressed or overworked, stick with what you’re doing.

January 1, 2010 at 4:04 pm
(21) Bob Macdonald says:

Let’s see. A tyson foods tote bag, 2 $4.00 coupons for salsa, a $5.00 Wendy’s gift card, a live monkey and a CD/DVD duplicater worth $995.00 retail. That puts the Contestador well over $85,000 for the last 14 months.
Oh and I lied about the monkey.

January 3, 2010 at 10:02 am
(22) Sandra Grauschopf, Guide to Contests says:

Bob, you’re so funny! I read your comment to my sister, and she said, “A live monkey??” We both laughed when we got to the end of the comment.

Congratulations to the Contestador!

January 1, 2010 at 7:36 pm
(30) Laura says:

I just started sweeping as well and just won $25 from GMAC!!! I also have the same question as Audra…how many entries are typical in a day? I aslo do around 30 a day, is that a good amount?

January 1, 2010 at 9:03 pm
(31) Jeff says:

How ever many you can enter each day without taking time away from your family stuff is the right amount. I used to enter about 60 each day while watching TV shows I’d taped or movies. Since I retired this year I’ve been entering about 100 daily. One day a week I go through sites that compile sweepstake opportunities. Any with prizes that I’m interested in I save into a SWEEPS favorites folder. I also use Roboform to auto fill my info into sites that I’ve previously visited – this saves an incredible amount of time. Good luck!!!

(32) Mary Mills says:

Happy New Year! I’m winning only small stuff, five in Dec.: a bottle of Fabreze, $10 gift card Starbucks, Just Dance head band, Pace Pecante sauce, a cd from Foremost Footwear. I don’t expect thousands, but wish for a Wii. I enter about a hundred, but am cutting back, I think, to cash, cars and food, at least for awhile.

I had a pretty good year of winning. My big win was Travelocity’s and T-Mobile’s sweepstake for a trip of up to $4,000. We used it for our honeymoon and went to Buenos Aires, Argentina and it was great! I also won a facial moisturizer from Redbook, little less than the trip, but I use it every day. I think the bar was set a little high this year.

I didn’t win any big ticket items in December, but what I did win were fun items that made me happy – and that’s what it’s all about (with a couple of big tickets thrown in here and there a couple times of year, right?) I won seven books at the bookbitch site from the International Thrill Writers – these also came with a huge tote and some autographed bookmarks and faceplates, a pair of Slender Secret collection Jeans from the Lee Jeans Facebook sweeps, a kid’s movie ticket from the Kid Cuisine instant, a SHRED SLED (I really really wanted one of these for my son) from Mom Central, a $15 Best Buy gift card from Coke Rewards, and a lovely personalized Lenox baby’s shoe ornament from the Winning Mommys blog (this went to my youngest granddaughter, since it’s her first Christmas). Again, not big tickets, but really fun, altogether about $260 worth of prizes

Also won a variety of smaller stuff like a year of frozen pizzas.

Cereal coupon, tuna fish coupon, kona coffee,$5 check, bose headphones, g shock watch, price is right t shirt, csi draw string back pack. I think there was more but can’t remember everything. I spend about 3 to 4 hrs entering every day. I enter allmost all of the daily entry sweeps so about 140 to 200 of them plus I also hit the one entry, weekly, and monthly sweeps. Great hobby, I hope to win another trip (2 yrs ago won a heli-hiking trip to the Canadian rockies) Someone has to win so why can’t it be us. Keep on entering and the prizes will come.

(60) Martine St John says:

Started sweeping in October last year and have only won a toy from Blockbuster and a toy from Hasbro plus $10 from Paypal. I have over 100 daily sweeps going and all the single entry ones I can find that I am interested in entering. I would like to know where to find more sweeps as I do this all day long (early forced retirement). Since I don’t have the money for sales tax, I try to stay out of the car sweeps (unfortunate, because I really need a new car!) I use your site (it’s great and thanks so much) and Lucky contests. I live in a small town and there’s not much here, so there are no local sweeps I can enter.

:

Read where you posted that you have been sweeping for a year and nothing in return. I wasn’t a winner until 1 year and 4 mos. It pays to hang in. The last year I won 143 sweeps. Wishing you luck your turn is coming. Also my 2nd win was a $4,600 prize from Star magazine which they gave out to all that attended the Academy Awards. Hope it is your turn soon.
