For the formal living room of the 2009 HGTV Dream Home in Sonoma, California, designers selected one important element -- a traditional oriental rug -- and used it to inspire the look of the rest of the room. The serene blue colors of the walls and the crisp whites of the furniture and window treatments play off of the colors found in the rug.
The living room also features plenty of light, provided by lights throughout the room. Table lamps, floor lamps, and a ceiling-mounted lamp work together to make this a bright and cheery room.
The Dream Home's living room also features a lovely library bookcase, which conceals a flat-screen television.
The living room is separated from the rest of the house by breezy white curtains, which enhance the summertime feeling of the home's California Wine Country setting.
