Summarize the Sweepstakes Scam

I was told that i won 2 Mercedes Benz cars and two checks totaling 550 million dollars. It was a delivery company that called me.

More Details about the Sweepstakes Scam

The delivery company said all I had to do is send 386 dollars to a tibita martin in Kingston, Jamaica and they would deliver the two cars and the two checks. AFTER I SENT THE MONEY, they called again and said I needed to send 500 dollars to the same place for insurance to cover the delivery. I was getting calls from a Mr. Anderson and a Mr. Stevens telling me that I need to send the money. I got a call this morning that I need to call Publishers Clearing House and ask them to hold off in them returning the cars to give me time to pay. The number they gave me for Publishers Clearing House is 1-876-280-0280.

Tips and Tricks

  • The first thing I was alert to was that Publisher Clearing never asks the winners to pay up front for any thing they won in there contests, and second, why would they be sending money to Jamaica?
